Currently, I mainly focus on tree assessments, permitting, reporting and consultations. In some cases bids can turn into tree work depending on availability and scheduling.
Unfortunately I am unable to give free estimates at this time.
I believe in establishing a mindful business relationship with my clients which takes time onsite to address all of my customer concerns. First time customers consultations start at $150.00 plus tax (per hour) in the Austin area.
Consultations include: providing high quality, detail oriented (level 2 & 3) risk assessments reporting, providing tree inventories and wildfire risk reduction recommendations. These services start at $175.00 plus tax.
As time permits, other tree services include: planting, class 1 & 2 pruning, large removals (with permitting), land/debris clearing, cabling/bracing and stump grinding. These services have a minimum job fee $250.00 plus tax.
Level 2 Basic Risk assessment
This is ground based assessment and makes observations 360 degrees around the canopy, branches, trunk and above ground roots of the specified tree(s).
This also utilizes basic hand tools to make enhance deductions and basic measurements.
These include DBH tape, clinometer (to measure height), magnifying glass, rubber mallet and probe. These tools help improve information for the report. This level is typically adequate for assessing risk and making recommendations.
Level 3 advanced assessment.
These types of assessments typically require specialized (and expensive) equipment to further enhance the assessment. These include but are not limited to resistance-recording drilling, sonic tomographers (measures internal decay), weather data analysis, soil and leaf laboratory analysis, and aerial inspections via climbing or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s).
It is my goal to be eventually be able to do more advanced assessments however, at the moment I am only able to do aerial/climbing inspections to make crown observations that would otherwise be not visible from the ground.
We are also available to collect samples and send them to laboratory services for analysis.
You may be asking yourself, what are the advantages of having these assessments done?
As an urban forestry steward I feel it is my duty to complete as accurately as possible a thorough risk assessment of your tree in order to help preserve your asset and our collective canopy.
I strongly believe tree removals should always be a last resort when all other options have been considered.
Far too often are tree guys too eager to cut down trees just to make a higher sale.
In my experience, many so called arborists will show up, scratch their chin and are more concerned with selling a removal since those typically have the higher dollar value.
Given the numerous benefits trees provide they deserve to be assessed by a more discerning and scrupulous arborist and that’s the Big Tree difference.
